TIMELINE OF NCT TAEYONG'S SCANDALS

In today's article, we'll discuss the past and yet still relevant allegations surrounding NCT's Lee Taeyong. Just recently, I posted a video wherein I addressed how a lot of NCTzens want Taeyong to leave NCT.

I would like to remind you that before you comment that I'm bringing up the past to hurt Taeyong, please be aware that this video is meant to debunk his scandals and I need to bring up his past to actually be able to make a valid argument.

For everyone to understand the entire situation and what's going on, we must talk about the very first scandal that started this chain of harassment towards Taeyong. There's that sad possibility that despite being an NCTzen, you've only heard bits of Taeyong's scandals or you only become aware of them whenever they're trending so here's the complete timeline of Taeyong's scandals which I will then try to debunk one by one:

TAEYONG'S FIRST SCANDAL

On December 9, 2014 after Taeyong was recently revealed as an SM rookie, he was under fire for being caught up in a scandal. It was made known to the public that when Taeyong was in middle school, he was allegedly a scammer who used obscene language on a website called Joonggonara which is basically the eBay counterpart in Korea.

This is a screenshot of people planning
to start FALSE rumors against Taeyong.

The rumor is false and antis were exaggerating the situation.

He refunded customers who were unhappy with the products they bought from him. There was even a time when he asked to meet the buyer to give them missing parts but that buyer declined and still called him a scammer.

There was also an incident wherein Taeyong sold defective Gundam toys but customers only paid him a small amount. People with malicious intentions then exaggerated the story to make it seem like Taeyong is a scammer.

Taeyong did use foul language online but it was not to any victims of his "scamming". It was during an online arguement and the people he was arguing with were also using foul language and making rude comments towards him. That said, Taeyong  had 4 ID accounts registered and yet none of them had history of scamming.

HOMOPHOBIC REMARKS ONE YEAR LATER

On October 6, 2019, comment from Taeyong's graduation book started to gain attention and in that comment, Taeyong allegedly attacked a female classmate by making homophobic remarks.

English translation of the image above:

"Everyone was so fun and everyone has such good personalities and I believe that everyone will make it big. But. [Name of student blacked out] won’t make it because [she/he] is gay. I can be sure of that."

There is no valid evidence that it's Taeyong.

The claims that support this scandals are so hilarious because it lacks complete sense. Why? You may ask.

Well, first of all, the name signed says either Lee Taeyeon or Taeyon, not Taeyong. It wouldn't make sense that Taeyong would misspell his name wrong back then. It should also be common sense that there are more than one Lee Taeyong that lives in Korea.

Second, Taeyong's handwriting doesn't match with the one on the picture. The picture on the right is a letter from Taeyong's days during SM Rookies. He would be relatively the same age during the time he allegedly wrote the comment but the handwriting is very different.

Third, did the comment even come from a graduation book? There's no evidence to support the claim that the comment was written in a graduation book because despite Korea not being extremely open to the LGBTQ community, the content of the comment was still slander against another student so it's unlikely that the school approved it.

TAEYONG'S  BULLYING ALLEGATIONS (Fat shaming)

This happened before the homophobic remarks scandal but I decided to address it last since this scandal is the most known among Taeyong's scandals because it's the one that it repeatedly used by antis to defame him and also because of the new evidences coming out recently.

There are 3 people involved in this scandal. They are Victim "A", Informant "B", and NCT's Taeyong.

On October 13, 2015, online comments supposedly made by Taeyong fat shaming one of his female classmates started to circulate around the internet.

The comment was posted on May 2, 2009 when he was in 8th grade and it was on a cafe site called "Superior 4th grade" of the middle school.

Taeyong said that the girl in blue made it look like 13 girls instead of 10.

10 years later on September 17, 2019, Informant "B" posted on an online community an article titled "Truths about classmate Taeyong".

"I am the manager of a coffee shop. At that time, I was unaware of the mocking obese people incident. Sorry for digging up the past. However, what Taeyong did was a mistake."

Taeyong apologized through his agency SM

"Taeyong feels extremely remorseful for his hurtful words and improper actions during junior high school. He also mentioned that he had apologized to those who were hurt when he was a trainee and even after the debut. He has always been self-criticizing up to now..."

Taeyong compensated Victim A

Taeyong also personally met victim "A". It was the second day after he returned to Korea after finishing his activities with SuperM in the US. "A" also directly posted Taeyong's apology that day on his personal SNS.

Taeyong transferred a reasonable amount of money to "A". He mentioned 'A' has been visiting the hospital because of a mental illness. Taeyong's side paid the compensation and both sides signed an agreement to keep the meeting confidential.

INFORMANT B REAPPEARS

On June 2020, Informant "B" reappeared. 'B' asked fans to refrain from harassing him. He then continued to criticize Taeyong. "B" said, "Actually, ... it's like this" and started posting KaKaoTalk messages between Taeyong and  Victim 'A'.

INFORMANT B CALLS OUT TAEYONG'S SINCERITY

Victim A: "When I (the victim) was crying and returning home, I crossed my legs and looked out the window... At that time, I wanted us to see each other and hear a sincere apology from you, I want us to become close as usual without any lies, so I sent this long message."

Taeyong: "Thank you for worrying about my health. I will keep being careful and managing it well ^^ "

When Dispatch obtained the original of this conversation, it became known that the KakaoTalk messages posted by Informant "B" was edited.

Taeyong was sincere throughout his entire conversation with 'A' but when 'B' broadcasted the
conversation of Taeyong and 'A' to the world, he purposely left out the sincere parts to make Taeyong
seem like he's cold to 'A'. Honestly, Informant B's actions clearly show that he wants people to hate on Taeyong.

SM ENT. WARNS ANTIS

SM Entertainment recently released a statement to announce that the agency will be taking legal action against malicious rumors regarding their artist NCT’s Taeyong.

English translation:

"Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

This is our statement on the content regarding our artist Taeyong that is being spread online.

The individual who has been posting online about Taeyong’s past words and actions during middle school has stated that they are an informant stepping up for the victim, and they have been continuously posting unconfirmed one-sided claims and distorted facts.

Taeyong has already sincerely apologized to the victim and provided compensation regarding his faults of the past. However, the informant continued to make one-sided claims using distorted and exaggerated facts to attack Taeyong. We have been aware of this, but as the informant is a former classmate of Taeyong’s, there were concerns that secondary damage could be inflicted on his friends from middle school and any related people. Taeyong himself has patiently endured the situation out of the concern that his middle school classmates may potentially be harmed.

However, the distorted claims continued to surface and spread, leading to serious damage in the form of invasion of privacy, insults, and defamation of not only Taeyong, but also his family. The situation has reached a point in which we cannot continue to show tolerance to protect our artist.

Therefore, if malicious posts about Taeyong continue to surface, we will no longer overlook them and
take strong legal action for defamation against the informant.

Moreover, we will take strong action without lenience regarding the dissemination and expansive
reproduction of related unconfirmed content as well as other clearly unlawful acts such as leaving
malicious comments about Taeyong and his family.

To avoid any further damage, we ask everyone to halt any illegal acts such as posting or spreading rumors, leaving malicious comments, or invading the privacy of all individuals related to Taeyong’s middle school days, including the informant.

We will continue to take legal action against any illegal acts by strengthening the existing monitoring process and legal measures that we have taken to protect our artists until now.

Thank you."

Message from the author

I feel really bad that Taeyong suffered so much so I made this article and a video so NCTzens and KPOP fans in general can share it so it can be used as receipts AGAINST antis who want to spread malicious rumors, especially to vulnerable NCTzens.

xoxo Jade
